Lloyd Geurink

Lloyd Jacob Geurink, aged 92, departed this life on May 23, 2017. He was born July 6, 1924 to the late John and Jessie (Jensema) in the Town of Easton. On March 20, 1948, he and his late wife Delores (Kurth), were married in Zion Lutheran Church. They remained married for 66 years.

Lloyd was proud to serve in World War II with the US Army in the European Theater and was a lifetime member of VFW post #388. He participated in a Veterans Honor Flight in 2010. Lloyd was a hard worker who hauled milk to Wittenberg and Antigo with the Kraft Food Company for 22 years, then the Marathon County Highway Department for 17 years, finally retiring in 1986.

Both Lloyd and Delores were devoted members of New Hope Community Church. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, goose hunting, traveling and family gatherings.

He is survived by his two daughters, Deb (Jerry) Buttke, Wausau/Wisconsin Rapids and Sandy (Mike) Ollhoff Poynette, WI, six grandchildren; Gwen (Kevin) McGannon, Neenah, WI, Alisha Buttke, Madrid, Spain, Craig (Katie) Buttke Amherst, WI, Kyle Ollhoff, Deforest, WI, Brandon (Heidi) Ollhoff, Portage, WI, Jocelyn (Jason) Schmidtke, Lodi, WI, and nine great grandchildren, one brother Glenn (Leah) Geurink and one sister Laverne Hettinga survive Lloyd. His brother Truman (Ruth) Geurink, two sisters, Viola (Andrew) Hettinga, Eva (John) VanVuren and a brother- in- law Ken Hettinga preceded him in death.

The service to honor Lloyd's life will be held at New Hope Community Church, Friday June 2, 2017, with the visitation from 9:00-11:00 a.m., and service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow at the church, and a graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Forestville Cemetery.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Aspirus Hospice Care and Mount View Center South Shore for the wonderfully attentive care given to Lloyd. Helke funeral home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
