Lorraine was born on the Kempf family farm near Mararthon, Wisconsin on February 18, 1916, and was the 7th child of nine brothers and one sister born to her parents Albert and Selma Kempf. On February 25, 1939, she was united in marriage in Marathon to the late Glen C. Becker.

In their retirement Glen and Lorraine enjoyed the winter months in Bushnell, Florida for the next 17 years. Whether in Florida or Wisconsin fishing was their passion and as a life long piano player, Lorriane spent endless hours playing and recording her music. Among her many interests and activities were science, history, writing, reading, cooking and gardening.
Inspired by her granddaughter Ann's interest in her life she began writing an autobiography in 1998 that she completed in 2003. Titled "Sharing Life's Journey" it was published in 2006 and copies of her book now reside at the Marathon County Historical Museum, the Wisconsin Historical Museum and The Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
She is survived by her sons Wayne and Bob, both of Wausau, five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are Glen, her husband of 60 years, her son Kenny, her sister Freda Cain and Kempf brothers, Walter, Herbert, Ernest, Werner, Arnold, Elmer, Norton, Alfred and Melvin.
