Lorraine Dumdei

Lorraine Dumdei, 70, of Wausau passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 at her home.  She was born March 22, 1940 in Athens to the late Roman and Clara (Starzinski) Drewek. Lorraine learned how to work hard growing up on her parent’s dairy farm. She graduated with honors from Athens High School where she also played clarinet in the band. In her earlier years, Lorraine worked at Winkleman’s Dept. Store where she modeled and worked in the bookkeeping office. Lorraine was also employed at the GTE Telephone Company, where she performed office work. She later worked at Lemke Cheese where she retired. Lorraine was a loving and humorous woman. She was a wonderful mom, who doted on her children and only grandchild Miranda. Lorraine was also musically talented; she enjoyed playing the piano and giving her children lessons. Survivors include her son, Steven (Tanya) Dumdei of Sonoma, CA, two daughters, Lisa Peterson of Wausau, Candice (Randy) Niztsche of Weston, her granddaughter, Miranda Kleinschmidt of Wausau and her brother, James Drewek of Athens. A brother, Alex Drewek preceded her in death.


Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Athens Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until services at the cemetery. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com
