Lorraine Elmer, 79, of Wausau passed away on Monday, April 16, 2007 at Harmony Court, Wausau surrounded by her family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born July 26, 1927 in Marshfield to the late Peter and Mary (Benderling) Rottscheit. On October 24, 1951, Lorraine married Leonard Elmer in Marshfield. They moved to Wausau where they raised seven children. Her greatest joys were time spent with her family and grandchildren. She loved taking the grandchildren to movies, church picnics and playing board games, Sheepshead, Rummy, and Bingo with family and friends. Mom will always be remembered as the lady who won the Cadillac playing Bingo. She loved to travel and made many memorable trips visiting family and friends. Most will remember her visits and impromptu chats. Among her interests, her favorites were canning and preparing holiday meals. She had a way of making the holidays memorable and special. Her house was always open to extended family, many will remember Aunt Lorraine for her free spirit, the way she made everyone feel welcomed and the fun they had.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend she will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Her family will cherish their time spent together and her final gift to them as she momentarily replaced the sadness in their hearts with a beautiful feeling of peace and tranquility.
