Lorraine Engles

Lorraine Margaret (Josiger) Engles, 85, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Kathryn, in St. Louis, MO. She was born to the late Bruno and Margaret (Prellwitz) Josiger in Wausau, WI on June 2, 1929, and was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Synod. She was a 1948 graduate of Wausau High School. After graduation, she worked as a secretary at the Brokaw Paper Mill. She married Horton Louis Engles on August 15, 1953 in Wausau, WI.

After their marriage, Lorraine and Horton moved to Beloit, WI. She was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, LCWS, and a long-time member of the Ladies of Good Shepherd.

In addition to being very active in her church, she was a homemaker who loved growing flowers and always kept a large vegetable garden. As her children grew, she returned to office work at Warner's Electric Brake and Clutch during the 1970s, and subsequently was employed by DM Manufacturing in the front office for 29 years until her retirement in 2010.

Lorraine was a kind, caring, and generous person who will be missed by all.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Kathryn (Kirk) Lindsay (St. Louis, MO) and Mark (Jennifer) Engles (La Porte, TX); grandchildren, Marshall (Jennifer) Engles (La Porte, TX), Matthew Engles (Dallas, TX), Amy Lindsay (Washington D.C.), Daniel Engles (La Porte, TX), and Keelson Engles (Hutto, TX); aunts, Helen (Morris) Brandenburg and Adeline (Charles) Brandenburg (Wausau, WI); cousins, Gretchen (Bernard) Jerlstrom (Williamsburg, VA) and Karla (Michael) Westcott (Wausau, WI); and numerous Josiger cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horton Louis Engles; son, Bruce Engles and two infant children; parents, Bruno and Margaret (Prellwitz) Josiger; brothers, Dennis and Daniel Josiger; and sisters, Ruth (Lee) Green and Karen (Paul) Elliott.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, LCWS at 2447 Park Avenue in Beloit, with a viewing prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. A light lunch will follow the service. Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. and a light supper. Rev. Ted Gulhaugen will officiate. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Monday, March 9 in St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wausau. Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate.
