Lorraine M. Grebe

Lorraine Mary Grebe, age 90, of Wausau, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 2, 2024, at Rennes Nursing Home in Weston.

She was born April 3, 1934, daughter of William Sr. and Mary (Richter) Kohn, on the family dairy farm in the town of Stettin, right down from the hill known as “Steepy.”

After high school, Lorraine met Eugene Grebe and the two were married on December 10,1953 in Pine City, MN. Together they shared 58 years of marriage enjoying their time together and raising four children. Lorraine and Eugene loved their family dearly, which led them to travel to many different places such as Africa, Alaska, Florida, California, and Washington to visit. She had four grandchildren, Shannon Duskey, Andrew McInnis, Katie, and Kelsey Grebe, and two step grandchildren, Amanda and Nikita; and fifteen great-grandchildren that she adored.

Her hobbies were antiquing, reading her bible, cooking, baking, and making maple syrup with her husband. She enjoyed outdoor gardening and had a houseful of indoor plants! Throughout her life she had many pets, but her favorite was a Himalayan cat named Boots.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and children, Eugenie Buerger; Sherry Grebe, Jeffery Grebe; and two brothers, William Kohn Jr., and Joe Kohn.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Jess Grebe, Milwaukee, and brother, Bernard Kohn, Weston, and her other family and friends. Lorraine will always be remembered for her sweet disposition and the kindness she showered on all who she met!

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., December 11, preceded by visitation at 10:30 a.m. at Grace and Truth Chapel on Stevens Drive in Wausau. A luncheon will follow at the church.

The burial will be private at Maple Grove Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rennes and Compassus for their special care during Lorraine’s time there. It was greatly appreciated.
