Lorraine Hunsicker

August 20, 1931 — January 30, 2014

Lorraine was born August 20th 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph and Wanda (Scutkowski) Mertes, in Wausau. On September 2nd 1949, she was united in marriage to Carl W. Hunsicker, in Dubuque, IA. Lorraine devoted many years caring for her family, as a homemaker; and also worked as an interior designer for Mirman's, in Wausau, and Minocqua Furniture.

Evangelism and singing in the choir were very important past times for Lorraine. In 1986, Lorraine published an article about loon fratricide in the Milwaukee Journal, as the first documented individual to witness such an event.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Dr. Paul (Susan) Hunsicker Sr., Tomahawk, Mark Hunsicker, Wausau, Kurt Hunsicker, Wausau, and Tina (John) Allstaedt, Tarpon Springs, FL; five grandchildren, Paul (Peggy) Jr., David (Becky), Justin (Regina) , Jake (Christina), and Hannah; four great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Geri) Mertes, Wausau.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, on December 20th 2011; brother, Warren Mertes; and infant daughter, Christine Carol.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 3rd, at Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend David Wetmore will officiate. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. The family will receive guests Friday, at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. until the service.
