Lorraine Smith

Lorraine Grace Hegna Smith, age 87, of Wausau died peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Wausau Manor.  She was born December 17th, 1930 to the late Floyd and Isabella Hegna.  Lorraine was married in 1952 to the late Eugene Smith (died June 28th, 1977).

Lorraine was the most loving, caring and giving mother, grandmother and sister ever.  She never thought of herself and gave everything away.  She had a full and happy life.  Lorraine loved to bake and cook; having her very own unique way of cooking as we all know.  Lorraine loved to garden and in her early years she enjoyed painting.  She also enjoyed a good trip to the casino from time to time.  But most of all, Lorraine loved her children and grandchildren.  She will be greatly missed by all and she will remain in our hearts forever!

Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Cathy (James Pyan) Smith, Patty (Todd) Hitz and Robert Smith; grandchildren, Bobby (Hannah) Smith, Danielle (Tony Dickinson) Hitz and Todd (Janelle Zubro) Hitz Jr.; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Elizabeth, Adalyn Smith and Gavin and Isabella Dickinson; siblings, Delores Hegna, Shirley Hegna and James (Anne) Hegna; and extended family and friends.  She is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Hegna and nephew, Paul Hegna.

The funeral service of Lorraine will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau.  Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 28th at Helke Funeral Home; resuming at 10:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home until the time of service.  Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery.  Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
