Louise Dvorscak

August 4, 1926 — December 19, 2016

Louise Dvorscak passed away peacefully on the morning of December 19 at Acorn Hill Senior Living Community in Mosinee, WI. She was 90 years old.

Louise was born to the late Frank and Anna (Sapieha) Stomski on August 4, 1926 in Knowlton, WI. On June 19, 1948 she married Charles "Weasel" Dvorscak at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Mosinee. Charlie passed away on December 13, 1985.

Louise lived all her life in the Mosinee area except for a brief period after her graduation from Mosinee High School in 1944 when she served her country in the War Department in Chicago as a stenographer. She was a skilled typist, bookkeeper, and expert at shorthand.

Together, Louise and Charlie owned and operated Weasel's Bar, a friendly neighborhood tavern, on Old Highway 51 in Kronenwetter for over 35 years. Louise continued to run it for over 20 years after Charlie passed on. She enjoyed the daily contact with neighbors and friends, only closing for a day of rest on Monday. She was a crack bartender, and her Old Fashioneds and Manhattans just couldn't be beat. She liked to throw "customer appreciation" parties and put out a spread of home-cooked food for all to enjoy. Having grown up in a Polish-speaking home, she was bilingual, and had a deep appreciation for Polish language, food and culture -- especially polka music! She also enjoyed gardening and taking care of her granddaughter.

Survivors include her daughters, Char (Robert) Carroll, Rothschild WI, and Denise (Bill) Deering, Stevens Point WI; granddaughter, Michelle (Jason) Turpin; and great-granddaughters; Evie and Emma of Shreveport, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by brothers, John and Walter Stomski; and sisters, Stella Gardner, Jean Sharkey, and Janet Gardner.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Parish, 603 Fourth St., Mosinee, with Fr. Don Przybylski officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, town of Texas.

You may sign the family guestbook at www.helke.com.

A donation may be made in Louise's name to the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin, 517 N. Segoe Rd. Suite 301, Madison, WI 53705, at alzwisc.org or 888-308-6251.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Acorn Hill Senior Living Community for the loving care she received over the years and for just being there every step of the way on this long journey. Sincere thanks also to Michelle, Joy, Shannon, Chris and all of Interim hospice for their expert guidance and support.
