Lucille Smith

March 27, 1925 — February 5, 2012

Lucille M. Smith, 86, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Marywood Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born to the late Arthur and Anna (Malueg) Schilling in Wausau on March 27, 1925. Lucille grew up in the town of Texas and attended local schools. She later married Ervin Smith on February 14, 1942.
Lucille was described as a simple woman with a kind heart. Her priority was her family. She valued and enjoyed the time that she could spend with her grandkids. For many years she was a cook at The Diner, where she was able to share with others one of her favorite things, cooking. Lucille spent much of her time reading or completing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at Salem Lutheran Church. More recently she was a member at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
Lucille is survived by her son, Bruce (Debbra) Smith; brother, Melvin (Arlene) Schilling; grandchildren, Jeanine Manthe, Keith (Tracy) Marten, Heather Jo (Troy) Blanchard, and Jeremy (Tara) Smith; great-grandchildren, Melissa Manthe, Rick Manthe, Jordan Blanchard, Tyler Blanchard, Olivia Smith, Amber Marten, and Kyle Marten; great-great-grandson, John Dunning V; good friend, Phyllis, from Kannenberg; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin; daughter, Janet Marten; parents; brothers, Elder, Raymond, Harvey, Arvin, and Leonard; sisters, Ruth Edelburg, Laura Weinke, Mildred Schilling, Gladys Winters, and Erma Koehler.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St., Wausau, with the Rev. Robert Edwards officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
