Luella Grosskreutz

Luella Grosskreutz, 104, Wausau, died Friday, April 21, 2017 at Mountain Terrace Senior Living under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Luella was born February 25, 1913 in the Town of Wein to Frank and Maria (Werner) Grosskreutz and raised by her step-father, Bernard Baesemann and Maria following Frank's death. In her early years, she worked as a cook for many prominent families in Chicago often times traveling with them on their vacations. Returning to Wausau, Luella worked for St. Mary's Hospital first as a cook and later in the medical records department before retiring after 28 years of dedication.

Luella was a woman with simple but strong convictions; she loved her God and she loved her family. Her love of God guided her throughout her life and she shared this love with family and friends. Luella dearly loved her nieces and nephews and their families, with each one knowing how special they were to her. She also enjoyed knitting and traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Germany and Switzerland.

Luella is survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and step-father; brothers, Henry, Louis and Fred; and sisters, Helen and Alma.

The funeral service will be at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Perry Pearson, Eric Nueske and Tanya Braund will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of service at Helke Funeral Home. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.
