Lula "Lu" Richardt, was called to her Eternal Home on All Saints Day at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau, on Sunday, November 1, 2009.
Lula was born in Poynette, WI, on November 11, 1910, the daughter of the late Ira and Kittie (Loomis) Bisbee. Lu was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and church member.
Lu was a former school teacher, and a substitute teacher for many years at Zion Lutheran School, Wausau. She married her beloved husband, Roland "Chief" Richardt on June 20, 1934 in Poynette. They came to Wausau with her husband in December, 1936, where Chief built the first WSAU radio station, and later on, Channel 7. Chief preceded her in death in 1997. Besides her beloved husband, she was preceded in death by her son Rev. Bill Richardt in 1988, and also two sisters and two brothers.
Lu was also Charter Member of Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau, and also organized the Lady’s Guild, serving as its first President, and was Secretary of the Golden Friendship Club, as well as other church committees.
Her loving family and survivors are a son Jim (Shirley) Richardt, Mosinee, and a daughter, LuAnne Richardt, Wausau, one daughter–in-law Myra Richardt, St Louis; ten grandchildren, Cassandra (Phil) Frusti, Texas, Jeannalee (Rev. Joel) Biermann, St Louis, Rev. Matthew Richardt, Cal., Roxanne (John) Lerma and Randy (Jocelyn) Richardt both of River Falls, WI, Amy (Brian) Jahns, Glendale, WI, Katie Rebholz, Milwaukee, WI; step grandchildren, Scott Swanson, Oregon, Todd (Srima) Swanson, Washington, and Laurie (Rich) Cook of Schofield; a niece, Evelyn Deerwester, MI, a nephew, Larry (June) Colstad, Poynette, and also 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Many hugs were enjoyed throughout the years by their precious Mom, Grandma, Gomie and Gomie-Gomie.
Celebration services will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau, Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. The service will be conducted by Rev. David Wetmore, along with Lu’s grandsons, the Rev. Matthew Richardt and the Rev. Joel Biermann. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
