Lydia was born September 15th 1914, the daughter of the late Paul and Lydia (Borchardt) Betzner, in the town of Wein. On November 15th 1947, she was united in marriage to Dale Hollinger. Throughout their marriage, they were blessed with three sons and 43 years of memories. Her sons will always remember the Sunday drives up north and how much Dale and Lydia enjoyed dancing to polka music.
She was a lifelong member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Wausau, where she gave of her time and talents. Lydia served in the Mary Martha Circle, ALCW Quilters, and the Over 60's of St. Stephen's. For over 25 years, she worked as a seamstress at J.C. Penny Co. Her hobbies ranged from vegetable gardening, to crocheting, sewing, and knitting.
On July 16th 2012, Lydia Ida Hollinger died under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau. She had enjoyed 97 years of life.
Lydia will be lovingly remembered by her three sons, Dale (Bernadette) Hollinger, Darrell (Deborah) Hollinger, and Arden (Lynndee) Hollinger; three grandchildren, Daniel (Sorayda) Hollinger, David Hollinger, and Rebecca (Rene) Delgado; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Benjamin; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Betzner.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale, in 1990; four brothers; and a sister.
A celebration of Lydia's life will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 26th, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Reverend Gary Froseth will officiate. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park. Family will receive guests at the funeral home, beginning at Noon, until the time of service, on Thursday.
