Lyle Dunst, 79, Wausau passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 21, 1927 in Seymour to the late Elwyn and Elva (Haver) Dunst. At the age of 18, Lyle enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served on the USS Maryland during WWII. On September 10, 1955, Lyle married Carol Gorski at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. He worked in the parts department at Drott Manufacturing, retiring after 27 years of service. Lyle then drove delivery truck for 14 years for the Wausau Daily Herald. He loved being out in the community and enjoyed visiting friends at all his stops. Lyle and Carol lived on the west side of Wausau raising two children, Todd and Cynthia. They were their pride and joy. As a family, they enjoyed traveling and camping all over the United States. Yard work, gardening, being outdoors, and playing with his dog, Jill were some of Lyle"s favorite pastimes. He was a longtime member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church where he volunteered as a money counter and usher.
Survivors include his wife, Carol of Wausau, one son, Todd (Cindy) Dunst of Oak Creek, one daughter, Cynthia Hein of Wausau, four grandchildren, Hannah and Hallie Dunst, Brooke Voigt and Lance Hein, one sister, Sandy (Jerry) Towle of Schofield, one brother, Donald (Barbara) Dunst of Harrison, Wi., one brother-in-law, Bob Stefonek of Sugar Camp, and three sisters-in-law, Beverly Dunst of Wausau, Judith (Rick) Howe of Hazelhurst, and Kathy Gorski of Schofield. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elwyn Jr.
The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Wausau. Father Joseph Gyim-Austin will officiate. Entombment will be in Holy Angels Mausoleum, Wausau. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.
