Marcella M. Drayna, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2015 at her home in Wausau.
She was born January 1, 1934 in Goodman, WI, daughter of the late John Neil and Rachel (LaFreniere) Ramsay. Marcella graduated from Goodman High School in 1951, and continued her education at Superior State College. There she met Roger D. Drayna, and they married on August 8, 1953. They made their first home at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL where Roger was stationed. Their daughter Deborah was born there.
They moved to Antigo, WI in 1954, where sons Mark and John were born, and Roger worked as an educator. In 1968 they moved to Wausau, where son Paul was born a year later, and Roger worked in the advertising and public relations departments of Wausau Insurance.
Marcella was devoted above all else to her family. Friends knew her as a loving mother and grandmother, and keeper of a fastidiously clean house. She extended generous hospitality to friends and family, but bashfully shunned any attention on herself. After raising her family she enjoyed volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and in the surgical waiting area at Aspirus Hospital.
She is survived by her children: Deborah (Ken) Johnson of Madison, WI; Mark (Stacey) Drayna of Mesa, AZ; John (Julie) Drayna of Wausau; and Paul Drayna of Carnation, WA. She also has seven grandchildren: Daniel, Michael and Emily Johnson; Jennifer and Kathryn "Katie" Drayna; and Riley and Carley Drayna. Also surviving are her three siblings: Margaret Marie Asman of Indian Head, Maryland; Marion Wozniak of Edgerton, WI; and David Ramsay of Virginia Beach, VA
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger in 2012, and one son Roger Douglas in 1959.
