Margaret Van Den Heuvel, 89, Wausau, died peacefully Thursday, March 3, 2016 surrounded by her family, at Copperleaf Assisted Living in Marathon City.
She was born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. She met Donald Van Den Heuvel at a USO dance and they were married six months later on June 23, 1951. They moved to Wausau in 1956, where they raised six children.
Margaret worked at North Central Health Care as a Medical Transcriber. She was not one to stay home; after her retirement she continued to work part time until she was 80 years old.
Survivors include her six children, Diane (Dale) Tesch, Perry Van Den Heuvel, Kirk (Vicky Davis) Van Den Heuvel, Charlene (Randy) Wanner, Linda (Steve) Pergande, Eric (Brenda) Van Den Heuvel, nine grandchildren, Keith, Paul, Sara, Chad, Jessica, Chrissy, Matt, David, Sam, and one great grandchild, Nari Ana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Van Den Heuvel, and a daughter-in-law, Kim Van Den Heuvel.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 (Noon), Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Rev. Ray Connor, officiating. Visitation will from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
