Margaret E. Richetto was born May 16, 1920 in Wausau to the late Emil and Alice (Hewitt) Richetto Sr. She graduated from Wausau High School and began working for the Veteran’s Administration as a secretary. Margaret married Peter Stavrakis at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, IA on July 22, 1966. After over 30 years of work with the Veteran’s Administration, Margaret retired from there and went to work for the State of Wisconsin in the Corrections Department and then Adoption for the next 10 years before finally fully retiring.
Throughout her life, Margaret was a godly woman who devoted her life to the care of others. When not working, she took in visiting brethren from the church and formed lifelong bonds of friendship. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family at home, cooking wonderful meals from scratch. Her musical ability also continued throughout her life, Margaret was an accomplished pianist and accordion player playing in many parades and city functions. Margaret Richetto-Stavrakis, 90, Wausau, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Margaret is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Peter; son, Carmello Richetto; step-sons, Richard (Allison) Stavrakis, Steve Stavrakis and Wayne “Jeff” (Sue) Stavrakis; step-grandchildren, Jolene (Richard) Marek, Stacie and Nicole Stavrakis; step-great-grandchildren, Kaleo and Coralee Marek; brother, Audeen (Jeanette) Richetto; sister-in-law, Charlotte Richetto; and many more extended family and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her sister, Tracella (Cella) Curler and brother, Emil Richetto Jr.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 14, 2010 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and last until 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Helke Funeral Home and resume at 10:00 AM on Monday lasting until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
