Marion Belinda Heahlke, 92, Wausau, died Thursday, October 6, 2016 surrounded by her loving children at the Aspirus Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Marion was born on August 6, 1924 in the Town of Hamburg to the late Arnold and Herta (Plisch) Voigt. She married the love of her life, Wallace Heahlke, on September 5, 1947 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of Hamburg. Marion was most happy being a mother to her four children; Howard, Alyce, Irene and Joan. Marion and Wallace celebrated 66 wonderful years together prior to his death in 2014.
Marion was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in being with her family. Marion loved to paint and painted many family members homes arriving with her own special brushes. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school. Free time was often used to play scrabble, work on her crossword and jigsaw puzzles, play in the dirt of her garden and sew.
Marion is survived by her children, Howard (Susan) Heahlke of Bozeman, MT, Irene (Gary) Peters of Wausau and Joan Heahlke of Wausau; son-in-law, Don Schultz of DeForest; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenn) Heahlke, Megan (Cameron Chen) Heahlke, Laura (Dan) Prenkert, Lisa (Kevin) Barman, Sheri (Kevin) Fochs, Jamie (Kyle) Schoessow and Keith Peters; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lorraine (Leroy) Rusch, Carl (Joyce) Voigt, Mae (Vernon) Mathwich and Lola Schmidt; brother-in-law, Bill Achterberg; sisters-in-law, Janice and Marcella Voigt; and a large extended family and many friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Alyce Schultz; siblings, Doris (Lylas) Staus, Dolores (Les) Scheu, Donald (Norma) Voigt, Lois Achterberg, Earl Voigt and Edward Voigt; and brother-in-law, Howard Schmidt.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10, 2016 at First English Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Erik Olson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.
