Mark Zastrow

September 5, 1960 — October 10, 2012

Mark D. Zastrow, 52, Merrill, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1960 to the late Grover Zastrow, and Janet (Randrup) Zastrow of Rothschild.

Mark grew up in the Wausau area; he attended and graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1978. After high school he went on to Northcentral Technical College and received a degree in criminal justice and worked for law enforcement agencies in the Wausau area as a police officer. After starting a family he decided to change careers and worked at Marathon Electric, eventually becoming a supervisor, he did that until his health didn't allow him to do so anymore.

He enjoyed being outdoors, especially if he was fishing. Mark didn't have a favorite spot to fish, but if he was going somewhere he always knew where the good spots were. He was also a member of Whitetails Unlimited, making sure to attend all the events that he could. Mark loved the Green Bay Packers, only missing games for very special events. He was also a collector of Native American themed art work, his favorite piece, and one he kept close in his own life is the "End of The Trail".

Mark will be sadly missed by his mother; daughter, Sadie Zastrow; two brothers, Steven and Jeffrey Zastrow; and Sadie's mother, Cindy Zempel.

A memorial service will be held 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Rothschild. Pastor Richard Block will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
