Marlin "Butch" Sann, 70, of the town of Wausau passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born December 7, 1943 in Wausau to the late Franklin and Hilda (Langhoff) Sann. Butch served in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was one of the first five hundred soldiers to occupy Cuba during the Bay of Pigs. Butch also went on to serve two tours of duty in Vietnam. On August 8, 1977, he married Sandra Golisch at St. Pauls' United Church of Christ, Wausau. Butch was a mechanic, truck driver and owner of Butch's Tire Store in Wausau before retiring in 1997.
Butch was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and supporter of NASCAR especially Dale Earnhart Sr. and Jr. In his younger years, he enjoyed helping out in the pits at State Park Speedway, bowling, fishing, hunting and camping. Butch had a special love for his grandkids who remember those special times they spent around the holidays and riding on Grandpa's souped-up lawn mower.
Butch is survived by his wife, Sandie of the town of Wausau, his daughter, Toni Mohr (Matt Wehn) of Mosinee, his son, Douglas (Jody) Sann of Mosinee, five grandchildren, Ashley Mohr of California, Austin and Clayton Mohr, Matthew and Brenden Sann, all of Mosinee, two sisters, Mavis (Mel) Wurm of Tomahawk, Marrianne (David) Schave of Wausau, son-in-law, John Mohr of Mosinee, three sisters-in-law, Barbara Golisch of Merrill, Norma Schmidt of Wausau, Beverly (Pete) Hanson of Wausau, many nieces and nephews and his special dogs, Ernie and Rowdy. Butch was preceded in death by a brother, Merrill Sann, a sister, Mardella Sann, two nephews, Brian Wurm, David Schave Jr., and brother-in-law, Kermit Golisch.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at the Eagles' Club at the South end of 3rd Ave., Wausau. Military rites will be conducted by Am. Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
