Mary Winetzki

Mary Lou Winetzki, 94, Wausau, died October 18, 2011, at North Central Health Care – Gardenside Crossing, Wausau.

She was born May 23, 1917, in Wausau, the daughter of the late Charles E. Parker and Helen (Weiland) Parker. After graduating from Wausau High School in 1935, she attended Lawrence University, Appleton, for two years; and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, in 1940, with a B.A. in Psychology.

Mary Lou was a member of the Red Cross, a Wausau Hospital Volunteer, a member of the Wausau Country Club, the Wausau Club, and the First Presbyterian Church.

She married Wilbur J. Winetzke on October 27, 1968. He died January 16, 1991.

Mary Lou is survived by a son, John C. (Sandy) Gaylord, Walnut Creek, CA; a step-daughter, Mary Sue (Bruce) Allen; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer Allen; and a niece, Judy Trattner. Several other nieces and nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Parker; a sister, Ruth; and a brother, Charles.

A special 'thank you' to Peggy Drehmel, who was Mary Lou's caregiver for over 7 years.

Visitation will be held at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22nd. Memorials may be sent to the Marathon County Red Cross.
