Merceda Kottke

April 17, 1930 — February 2, 2016

Merceda M. Kottke, 85, of Wausau passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born April 17, 1930 in Chicago to the late John and Leona (Helke) Thiede. On February 2, 1952, Merceda married Harold Kottke in the parsonage of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Merceda will be remembered for the love and care she gave her family. She was a wonderful cook and loved baking goodies for her grandchildren. Merceda enjoyed watching their many softball and baseball games. In her earlier years, she kept busy by working in her flower and vegetable gardens, fishing, camping or knitting hundreds of her special dishcloths. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church where she participated in the Ladies Aide, Bible study and funeral lunch volunteer.
Survivors include her husband, Harold of Wausau, one son, Darrell (Geri Kay) Kottke of Marathon City, two daughters, Nan Kottke of Wausau, Wanda (Mike) Kramer of Wausau, six grandchildren, Aaron Kottke, Jamie (Ben) Rasmussen, James (Kim) Kramer, Anna, Jared and Adam Kramer, four great grandchildren, Abigail, Alayna and Aiden Rasmussen, Jackson Kramer, one brother, Jack Thiede of Yuma, AZ, and two sisters, Marilyn Thiede and Merriel (Alfred) Niles of Shawano.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St., Wausau. Reverend Robert Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church and again on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
