Mildred valued her family above anything else in life. There was nothing more she enjoyed than sitting back and observing her family happily interacting with each other at the many family gatherings.
She was born July 28th 1923, the daughter of the late John and Alma (Rusch) Franz, at home, in Merrill, WI. On April 29th 1944, she was united in marriage to Earl Plautz and together they shared 68 years, filled with raising their seven beloved children and watching their family grow. Mildred and Earl were members of Zion Lutheran Church since 1957. Along with raising her family, she worked full-time outside of the home. She retired at the age of 72, as a dietary technician at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Mildred's interests were endless, she and Earl had large flower and vegetable gardens; she enjoyed roses and birds; and was an excellent cook and baker. She loved preparing huge feasts for the Holidays, anything that brought her family together. For years, she and Earl enjoyed wintering in Florida and golf outings. Mildred will be remembered by all who knew her as a gracious, kind woman.
On Thursday, December 13th 2012, Mildred L. Plautz died under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, at Wausau Manor.
Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Earl, Wausau; seven children, Mary (Jim) Plautz, Merrill, Dixie (Jerry) Karau, Green Bay, Laurie (Mark Webles) Schmidt, Wausau, Cheryl Plautz, Wausau, John (Kathy) Plautz, Rhinelander, Jeff (Brenda) Plautz, Wausau, and Debra (David) Kempf, Wausau; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Gadeke, Wausau, Nathalie (Walter) Muschinske, Merrill, and Audrey (David) Steffen, Land O' Lakes; and many other family members and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John, Jr. "Jackie".
