Mildred Schmidt

Mildred "Millie" J. Schmidt, 97, Wausau, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Millie was born August 3, 1918 in Wausau, WI to the late William and Olga (Priebe) Wohlfahrt. She attended school in Wausau and graduated from Wausau High School in 1935. She married Faale E. Goetzke on May 18, 1946 and his death came on April 18, 1953. She later married Randal W. Schmidt on January 16, 1954 and he died June 14, 1993.
Millie was a long term employee of J.C. Penney, where she retired in November of 1984. She was a life time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine for which she served as Worthy High Priestess. Millie was also a member of the Wisconsin Valley Shrine Auxiliary for crippled children at the Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis.
Millie had a great outlook on life and had quite a sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, especially donuts, cinnamon rolls and fudge. She also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and teaching her nephews to play baseball.
She is survived by a nephew, Timothy Wohlfahrt and his wife Barbara, a niece Nancy Krahn and her husband Ervin and many loving and caring great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her wonderful neighbors and friends whose care and support allowed her to enjoy life and fulfill her wishes to stay in her home.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and three brothers, George, Walter and Harry Wohlfahrt.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 13, 2016 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 426 Washington St., Wausau with Pastor Christopher Ewan officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
