Milda "Millie" Petrick, 87, of Wausau passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013.
She was born August 12, 1926 in Marathon to the late Edward and Louisa (Alhquist) Braunel. Millie married William "Bud" Petrick on September 4, 1948 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Marathon. Millie and Bud raised their five children in Wausau while Bud worked at James River and Millie took loving care of their family. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting and flower gardening. Millie and Bud looked forward to their many travels throughout the United States as well as numerous fishing trips to Canada and RV trips to Arizona. Millie was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered as a member of the Welfare Workers and participated in the 55+ group, Trinity Quilters and Thursday morning Bible study.
Survivors include her three sons, David (Beverly) Petrick of Spirit Lake, IA, Dan (Kathleen) Petrick of St. Charles, IL., Carlo (Linda) Petrick of Port Washington, two daughters, Susanne (Bill Preuss) Thorson of Birnamwood, Lois (Roger) Watson of Mosinee, eight grandchildren, Christopher Petrick, Elizabeth and Lisa Petrick, Amanda (Norm) Reynolds, Corey Petrick, Eric Thorson, Katie (Mark) Kamin and Alec Watson, one great grandson, William Roger Thorson, one brother, Herbert Braunel of Marathon, one sister, Arletta Ahrens of Mosinee and sister-in-law, Jean Braunel of Marathon.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Bud, son-in-law, Roger Thorson, seven brothers, Reuben, Henry, Edwin, Norman, Raymond, Walter, and Wilmer Braunel and six sisters, Selma Cyrs, Carrie Michalski, Ruth Kottke, Elsie Neumann, Esther Braunel and Hilda Plautz.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau. Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum and Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
