Milton R. Zahrt, 84, Wausau, died August 24, 2010, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born March 8, 1926, to the late August and Bertha (Neuman) Zahrt. On June 6, 1955, he was united in marriage to Audrey Hafeman, at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Milt worked as a mechanic for Zahrt Implement for many years.
After retirement, he was proud to be a member of the Easton-Hewitt Lions Club. A member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, he volunteered his time distributing food for the needy through the food pantry; and enjoyed participating in the 55+ group, with Audrey.
Milt had a variety of hobbies including maple syrup cooking, making homemade smoked sausage, and working on small engines.
He is survived by his family, including his wife of 55 years, Audrey Zahrt; sons, Allan Zahrt, Wausau, and Wayne (Linda Chamberlain) Zahrt, DePere, WI; 3 grandchildren, Jacquie (Mike) Sprang, Jami Zahrt, and Layna Zahrt; 3 step-grandchildren, Amber, Kara, and Shana Chamberlain; sister, Verna Schlund, Wausau; brother, Merlin (Joan) Zahrt, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilbur and Lawrence Zahrt; and 4 sisters, Hertha Peters, Velma Runzheimer, Zelta Schlund, and Arlett Zahrt.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 30, 2010, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Weston. The Reverend Raymond Connor will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Family will receive guests from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the church; and again the day of the service, at the church, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
