Nancy Lou Loy, 74, of Marathon left this life to spend Eternal Life with her Lord, on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Aspirus Palliative Care with her family at her side following a short battle with cancer.
She was born November 26, 1938 in Wausau to the late Arthur and Arline (Hickman) Graveen. On July 26, 1958 she married Charles F. Loy in Stillwater, MN at Our Saviors Church. Nancy and Charles met on the dance floor. Jittter Bug and Rock were "in" then. Later they went to Fox Trot and country music and then combined all four steps to make their own dance step. They danced together for 50 years.
Nancy was a good ice skater and later trained her grandchildren to skate. Nancy loved horseback riding and water skiing. For 22 years she cared for her son, Michael. Then her husband took early retirement and she worked at several places in the Wausau and Marathon area. She went on to care for her grandchildren and her six little great grandchildren. Most of Nancy's married life was done together with her husband. They traveled together and drank more than a few beers together. Nancy enjoyed church with her husband at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church in Marathon.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Charles of Marathon, a daughter, Pamela (Anthony) Doan of Abrams, three sons, Kirk (Viveca Ornelas) Loy of Albuquerque, NM, Barry Loy of Marathon, and Michael Loy at home, six granddaughters, Heidi (Dan) Huebner of Kronenwetter, Jessica (James) Pestka of Athens, Amanda Loy of Wausau, Elizabeth Doan of Green Bay, Carolyn and Rebecca Doan of Abrams, two grandsons, Trevor (Brittney Reissman) Burger of Green Bay, Benjamin (Sonya Bergeth) Loy o f Marathon, six great grandchildren, Joelle Huebner, Cameron and Riley Pestka, Dylan and Bentley Loy, Jordan Loy, one brother, DuWayne (Bonnie) Graveen of Rib Mountain, three sisters, Darlo Akey of Weston, Marjorie (Neil) Archie of Wausau, Carol Zastrow of Wausau, four brothers-in-law, Raymond (Virjean) Loy of Wausau, William (Patricia) Loy of Rib Mountain, Vernon Krueger of Wausau, Allan (Shirley) Wilde of Maggie Valley, NC, four sisters-in-law, Bettye (Stanley) Beilke of Marathon, Geraldine Loy of Marathon, Margie (Al) Barton of Thorton, CO, Mary (Clarence) Jaecks of Wausau, many nieces and nephews and one very special and loved niece, Lori Plunkett, who spent many hours visiting Nancy and making her smile.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law- Bruno and Senta (Radant) Loy, step father- in-law, Julius Kohler, brothers-in-law, Willard Zastrow, Robert Loy, James Loy and John Akey, step brother-in-law, Marvin Michlig, sister-in-law, Nancy Krueger, and great-niece, Emily Eaton.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, 206 Hemlock St., Marathon. Rev. Jon Hadler will officiate. Burial will follow in Stettin Christian Cemetery, town of Stettin. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
