Nancy Jean Smith, 75, of Wausau died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Azura House under the care Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Services.
She was born July 20, 1939 in the Town of Wein, daughter of the late Otto and Emma (Trierweiler) Borchardt. Nancy received her education at Our Saviors Lutheran School through the eighth grade and graduated from Wausau High School in 1957.
She worked at Kresges Dime Store, American Can, Schuette Building Center, Zastrow the Beer Man and later from the accounting department at Modern Building.
Nancy's life was caring for her family. She sacrificed many things during that time raising her four children by herself, and caring for her mother and mother-in-law for many years. Her grandchildren were very important to her and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.
She was a active member for Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang in the church choir, and was a member of the ladies aid and volunteer her time and talents with Dime and Dollar. She also served as a leader with Lutheran Girls Pioneer.
Nancy is survived by two sons, Dave (Kathy) Smith of Mound, MN, John Smith of Wausau, two daughters, Linda (Russ) Dvorak of Morris, MN and Laura (Keith) Brandt of Marathon, WI, five grandchildren, Travis (Jean) Brandt, Cory (Michelle) Brandt, Amanda Brandt, Jared Brandt and Garrett Dvorak , one great granddaughter Molly Brandt, one brother Gordon Borchardt of Hazelhurst, WI and one sister Carol Smith of Wausau.
She was preceded in death by one sister LaVila Borchardt and one brother Elroy Borchardt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Our Saviors Evangelical Lutheran Church, 703 Flieth St Wausau. Rev. Robert Edwards will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street Wausau and from 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be at Stettin Christian Cemetery, Town of Stettin.
