Nathalie J. (Smith) Schuett, 83, Wausau, died Thursday, October 8, 2015 while under the care of Wausau Manor Nursing Home, Wausau. Nathalie was born to the late Martin and Leona Smith on January 26, 1932. She married Robert J. Schuett on October 10, 1953 in Merrill.
Nathalie graduated from Merrill High School. She worked at Employers Mutual Insurance and operated a dairy farm with her husband. In 1986 she attended North Central Technical College and received her certification as a Nursing Assistant. She worked at Wausau Manor Nursing Home until her retirement in 2009. She served as a leader of the Maine 4-H Club for 30 years. She was an active member of the Mainettes Homemakers Club, and St. John's Lutheran Church. She and her husband loved to travel and enjoyed listening to Polka music. In her retirement, she was passionately involved in helping care for the dogs that stayed at Harmony Hills Pet Resort which she operated with her daughter. She had a wonderful zest for life, and she left a smile on the face of everyone she met.
Survivors include one son, Bob (Colleen) Schuett, Tomahawk, two daughters, Karen (Gary) Carr, Yukon, Oklahoma, and Karla Schuett, Wausau; five grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Schuett, Wausau; Tony (Nikki) Schuett, Merrill; Stephen (Holly) Schuett, Merrill; Chad and Stacey Carr, Yukon, Oklahoma, and her beloved dog Tommy; one brother, Dale (Carol) Smith, Lac du Flambeau; and one sister, Junice (Lester) Hannemann, Appleton. She is further survived by two great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and twelve great-step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, and parents.
Funeral Services with visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, October 14, 2015 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Town of Maine, starting at 10:00 a.m. with service at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 13, from 4-7 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau.
