Neal E "Jack" Aschebrock, 82, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Aspirus Hospital under Palliative Care and Hospice Services with his wife at his side.
He was born November 17, 1935 in Stratford, WI, to Walter and Margaret (Miller) Aschebrock. On August 16, 1958 he married Beverly Burke in Marathon WI. They were just 8 days short celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
Jack attended Stratford High School. He joined the Army, stationed in Alaska from 1956-1957. He worked at Marathon Electric for 43 years, retiring in 1998.
Jack loved to work with wood. He spent many, many hours cutting wood for his "homemade" woodburner and then, using the slab wood, made several custom gun cabinets and wood boxes. He even had his own branding iron with his signature on it. Being a frugal man, he didn't want to get rid of clothes, saying "they're good enough for the woods!"
Jack was an avid bowler and golfer. He and Bev won many trophies. He was on leagues for both sports. He also loved playing dice and cards...but he hated playing "Crunch"! "Ya...Ya!"
His love for his family was evident in everything he did. He will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Beverly, three daughters: Kimberly (Jody) Morger, Merrill WI, Peggy (Steve) Artz, Gleason WI and Jackie Aschebrock, Wausau WI.
Nine grandchildren: Tyler and Dillon Morger, Erin Needham, Aimee Kramolis, Megan Jeranek, Kelly Artz, Samantha Artz, Ashley Paszek and Jessica Eckes.
Eleven great-grandchildren: Grant Morger, Brock, Brady and Teagan Needham, Ian and Ellesandra Kramolis, Liam and Bennett Jeranek, Zoey and Zach DeGroot and Tyrin Manske. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Riemer and brother, Larry (Barb) Aschebrock and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by beloved daughter, Sandy Dunst, his parents, brothers Keith (Bud) Aschebrock, Wayne (Toby) Aschebrock and sister, Shirley Mueller.
