Nettie C. Green

It is with great sadness that the family of Annette (Nettie) Carol Green announce her passing. Nettie, age 88, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, at the Aspirus Hospice House.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11 at 10:00 AM until time of memorial service at 11:00 AM, at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 150202 County Rd NN in Wausau, WI. Interment will occur at a later date, at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Nettie was born on December 14, 1936 in Wausau, WI to Herbert and Alyce (nee Shael) Kastenschmimdt. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1954, and married Robert D. Green on May 4, 1954.

The couple owned and operated three stores: Green’s Quality Foods, a variety store, and a hardware store, all in Marathon. After selling the stores, Nettie enjoyed a few parttime jobs. Her most recent was with Wojo Tours & Travel as a guide/host, which allowed her to travel and meet new friends.

Nettie was deeply cherished by all who knew her, sharing a laugh and a radiant smile that could warm anyone’s heart. She was a constant presence at family gatherings, from weddings to bridal and baby showers, graduations to anniversaries, and even during the difficult times of saying goodbye at funerals.

Nettie was a remarkable daughter, sister, wife, friend, and aunt. Her infectous smile, joyful laughter, and sharp wit, combined with her unwavering love, will forever resonate in our hearts and memories.

One of Nettie’s greatest loves was playing golf with family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, playing cards, puzzles, and quilting. She was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Nettie is survived by her sister Judith Sherwin, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Green; parents Herbert and Alyce Kastenschmidt; siblings Nancy Raphoon, Virginia Tesch, and Richard Kastenschmidt; nieces and nephews Cyndee (Raphoon) Watson, Jennifer (Raphoon) Klimaszewski, and Jeff Tesch.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary care and compassion Aspirus Hospice House staff provided her and the family in her final days.
