Norbert Gauthier Jr.

March 22, 1939 — June 23, 2018

Norbert Gauthier, Jr., 79, of the Town of Rib Mountain passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at St. Clare’s Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was born March 22, 1939, in Green Bay to the late Norbert and Alberta (Mart) Gauthier, Sr.  After graduating from high school, Norbert served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer in Korea.  Norbert’s career included serving as a police officer in Springfield, MO, and then as a criminal investigator for the IRS in Kansas City.  In 1970, he was called to serve as one of the first U.S. Sky Marshalls.  Norbert retired after 23 years of service with the federal government.

On December 17, 1960, Norbert married Juanita Carney in Springfield, MO.  While living in Kansas City, they raised their four children, Laura, Melissa, Regina and Christopher. If you knew Norbert, you quickly found out that he was a man of principal with strong views on many topics balanced by a wry sense of humor.  As a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he loved being with his family and always put them first. In his free time, Norbert enjoyed playing golf and poker with his friends.  He had a talent for woodworking and loved being in his garage workshop.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita of Rib Mountain, WI: three daughters, Laura (Gary) Williams of Davidson, NC; Melissa Robb of Knightdale, NC; Regina (Rob) Rauen of Edgar, WI; one son, Christopher (Jacqui) of Germantown Hills, IL: six grandchildren, Katie (Mike) Farmer, Alex (Sara) Williams, Samantha and Jacob Rauen, Madeline and Caleb Gauthier: two great grandchildren, Gabriel Williams and Aaron Farmer. Surviving family also includes his stepmother Irene Gauthier of Green Bay, WI: two sisters, Rosemary (James) Lawler of Green Bay, Rosemary (Dan) Olson of Minneapolis, MN, and seven brothers, Wayne (Judie) of Green Bay, Michael (Nancy) of Green Bay, Walter (Cathy) of Ann Arbor, MI, Paul (Georgette Torricer) of Maui, HI, David of Green Bay, and Pat and Jim Sadler, both of Green Bay.  Norbert was preceded in death by his son-in-law Robbie Robb.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau.  Visitation will resume on Thursday at 9:30 am in the Resurrection Room of the Bishop Wycislo Center at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, 140 S. Monroe Ave., Green Bay with the funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 am.  Burial with military honors will follow at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.  You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
