Norman Stewart Ebersold, 87, Wausau, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Norman was born May 21, 1924 in Wausau to Fred and Mary (Lajannesse) Ebersold. He served in the Army Air Forces from 1934 to 1946, during which time he married Wilma Foose on December 22, 1945 in Council Bluffs, IA. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Larry and Patricia. Sadly, Wilma died on December 8, 1971 a few days short of their 26th anniversary. Love blossomed again for Norman when he met Marjorie (nee Schroeder) Zilisch and they were united in marriage on September 17, 1977 at Zion Lutheran Church. They joined their two families and spent 33 wonderful and loving years together.
Norm was a kind and honorable gentleman in every sense of the word. He was a man who loved and was devoted to his family and worked very hard as a meter reader for Wisconsin Public Services for 38 years to provide for them. Norm enjoyed volunteering at Zion with their many activities and was a member of both the Young at Heart group and the Optimists. In his free time, Norm enjoyed reading, fishing, and traveling as much as he could.
Norman is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Patricia (Larry) Willems of Rhinelander, Larry (LuAnn) Ebersold of Grantsburg, Del (Debbie) Zilisch of Crystal Falls, MI, Perry (Julie) Zilisch of Rhinelander, Kevin Zilisch of Alamogordo, NM; grandchildren, Amy (Coleigh) Patrick, Annie (Jeff) Flesch, Ben (Joelle Stefanski) Willems, Lena (Mark) Shepherd, Lora (Kris) Johansen, Luke Ebersold, Jason (Petra) Zilisch, Lori Degenhardt, Jessica (Kevin) Rodain, Jodie (Don) Reed and Jeremy (Rochelle) Zilisch; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Steven Gjerde will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM and last until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow the funeral at Restlawn Memorial Park with military honors performed by American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
