Oscar Dirks, 95, of Wausau, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016, at North Central Health Care Center, Wausau.
Oscar was born June 16, 1920, in the Town of Green Valley, WI, son of the late John and Helen (Nischke) Dirks. He was united in marriage on February, 7, 1942, to Leila Richter in Bonduel, WI.
Oscar farmed for eight years, then worked for Badger Breeders before retiring in 1985 from Marco Cooperative in Marathon.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards especially Sheep's Head and traveling.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jeremy, two brothers, Albert and Walter, a sister Louise and a brother-in-law Arnold.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Leila, children; Ken (Jean) Dirks, Tomahawk, Justine (Robert) Stolze, Ringle, Ronald (Suzanne) Dirks, Wausau, Nancy (Mark) Loker, Stoughton, WI, Diane (Mark) Blume, Marathon, Dan Dirks, Wausau, and Annette (Patrick) Krautkramer, Marathon and, 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a great great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at noon Monday, January 25, 2016, at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, Marathon with Rev. Jon Hadler officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church memorial fund, Alzheimer's Association or Northland Lutheran High School.
