Oswald Heinrich

August 20, 1913 — December 26, 2009

Oswald “Ozzie” Heinrich was a kind man whose friendly personality gave him the ability to turn strangers into friends. He had a strong faith and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was blessed with the gift of fixing, building, or improving just about anything he put his hands on. Ozzie used this gift in helping friends or family or whoever needed a helping hand.

Ozzie passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Mount View Care Center, where he was a resident.

He was born on August 20, 1913 in Sheboygan to the late Hugo and Minnie (Herring) Heinrich. At Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau, Ozzie married Elmira Glasel on July 2, 1938. They lived at 711 Winton Street and raised their son, Bob and daughter, Carol Ann. Ozzie had worked for the City of Wausau Street Department where he was a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. Ozzie enjoyed fishing and was an avid deer hunter still climbing into his tree stand at the age of 85.

Survivors include Robert (Judith) Heinrich of Wausau, Carol Ann Milner of Lyle, Mn, 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and one sister, Loretta Massem of Mequon. Ozzie was preceded in death by Elmira on March 20, 2003, two brothers, Walter and Harold, and a sister, Lucy Schneiderwendt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Joel Brandt will officiate. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
