Patricia "Pat", "Goofy" Kay Schneider, 78, Wausau, died early Monday morning at Mountain Terrace under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Patricia was born July 8, 1939 in Three Lakes and was the daughter of the late Alloys and Mary (Rempert) Samz. She graduated as Valedictorian of Crandon High School. Patricia married the Love of her Life Donald “Jack” Schneider on April 23, 1966 at St. Theresa Church in Three Lakes and the couple was blessed with two sons: Joseph and Michael, their Irish twins as Goofy referred to them. She worked in the claims processing department with Wausau Insurance for 34 years and met some very good friends before retiring.
Patricia was one of a kind; she enjoyed a good time with her unique sense of humor and tough love exterior that hid a very loving mother and grandmother. One of her favorite stories to tell about Jack, was he wasn’t anything to look at but had a nice car so she thought she would take a chance. That chance turned into 15 years of loving marriage, till his death on November 5, 1981. As a grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and taking every opportunity to spoil them. When her son, Joe, jokingly said “Look it is your Goofy Grandma” her Grandson Joe, never referred to as Grandma again. Goofy it was and Goofy is who she became to not only her Grandchildren, but to many who loved her. Her favorite Christmas present ever was personalized license plates saying “Goofy G” She thought it was a unique term of endearment. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards, mostly sheep head and Yahtzee with family and friends. Her sons always joked she could count the dice and pick them up so fast they never had a chance to see if she was right if she was correct. If she wasn't socializing she was reading, writing many letters, or writing in her diary. Goofy always joked she was keeping the Post Office in business. When looking over her final wishes the two items she wanted to go with her was a deck of cards and Jack. Her humor and love is what her family and friends will miss the most. Simply put “We love Goofy”
Patricia is survived by her loving sons, Joe (Mary) of Wausau and Mike (Gina) of Eland; grandchildren, Joe (Sarah) Schneider, Susan (Cody) Horne, Jack Schneider and Seton Schneider; great-granddaughter, Claire; siblings, Mary (Dennis) Richmond, Sharon Flannery, Al (Janine) Samz, Paul (Connie) Samz, Kris (Paul) Wagner, Penny (Gary) Long and Cindy (Stan) Pryor, David (Kay) Samz and extended family and friends.
