Peter Olson

Peter L. Olson, 81, of Wausau passed away at his home on Sunday, December 26, 2010. He was born February 24, 1929 in Merrill to the late Peter and Edith (Ritz) Olson. After attending school, Pete joined the Navy serving during WWII. On June 21, 1961 he married Valerie Illichmann at Peace Lutheran Church, Antigo. While raising eleven children, Pete worked as an engineer for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He retired as first engineer after 44 years of service. He was a professional painter, and also a salesman for Texas Refinery. He enjoyed woodworking, studying the Bible, itsa�(TM) scripture and Christian hymns.
Survivors include his wife, Valerie of Wausau, his children, Teresa (John) Schmidt of Weston, Priscilla (Jerry) Glaser of Wautoma, Patricia Olson of Wausau, Peter R. (Pamela) Olson of River Falls, Laura (Jerry) Houdek of Deerbrook, Andrew (Peggy) Olson of Ringle, Mark (Christi) Olson of Weston, Thomas (Maria) Olson of Wausau, Rev. Timothy (Chris) Olson of Eaton Rapids, MI, Rev. Dr. Daniel (Katie) Olson of Buckley, IL, 25 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Olson, 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. Marka�(TM)s Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Timothy Olson and Rev. Dr. Daniel Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery with full military honors provided by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10.
