Phillip Angelo Perushek, 83, passed away on Monday September 30, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Phil was born June 7, 1941 in Ely, Minnesota, the son of Frank and Rose Perushek. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. After graduation, he taught industrial arts in Racine, where he met his wife, Ardis. They married on July 9, 1966. In 1970, he began teaching at DC Everest Junior and Senior High Schools, where he remained until his retirement in 1998.

Phil had a love for many things, all of which he shared with and passed down to his children: the outdoors, especially the Boundary Waters; camping and fishing; gardening; and reading. He especially loved hunting with his son Joseph. Phil had a profound respect for nature and all it provides - he tapped his own trees for maple syrup and grew his own grapes, which he made into juice and jelly. He took his children blueberry picking and showed them all the best spots. His garden was prolific, and he took great pride in growing food he provided for his family.

One of Phil's dreams was to build what he could draw, and he achieved that dream when he designed and built his own home, where he and Ardis lived for over 50 years. His greatest achievement, however, was the family he raised. Phil loved and was incredibly proud of each and every one of his children and grandchildren, who will miss him tremendously.

Phil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ardis; his children, Joe (Emily) Perushek, Michael Perushek, Kim (Jason) Wieloch, and Penny (Cory) Diamond. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ollie, Rachel, Raegan, Tina, and Jin, as well as his sisters Phyllis Schmidt and Peggy Davis.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Helke Funeral Home in Wausau, Wisconsin. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM with the service beginning at 12:00 noon.
