Phyllis Eschenbach

April 10, 1920 — October 31, 2013

Family was the most important part of Phyllis's life. She treasured the many years she had with them and all the memories made along the way. Phyllis loved being her daughter's best-friend.

Phyllis Byrl Eschenbach, daughter of the late Harold and Cecelia (Quandt) Hoenisch, was born in Wausau, April 10th 1920. In 1938, she graduated from Wausau High School. On December 8th 1945, she was united in marriage to Arthur John Eschenbach, in Wausau. Arthur preceded Phyllis in death on August 13th 1973. She worked for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association for 29 ½ years.

She was a charter member of the Eagle's Auxiliary, serving as junior vice president, treasurer, and a trustee. In May 2004, Phyllis was inducted into the Wisconsin Eagle's Auxiliary Hall of Fame. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, AARP, and the Senior Citizens Association. She spent many hours volunteering at the Color Vision Print Shop for the American Legion. Phyllis was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church, Wausau

On Thursday, October 31st, 2013, Phyllis Byrl Eschenbach, 93, died under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, at Colonial Manor, Wausau.

Phyllis is survived by two children, Douglas (Cathy) Eschenbach, Grapevine, TX, and Debbie (LeRoy) Schoepke, Wausau; three grandchildren, Scott (Laurie) Eschenbach, Heidi Eschenbach, and Tim Schoepke; six great-grandchildren, Erynn and Amberley Eschenbach and Noah, Max, Finn, and Amelie Schoepke; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Along with her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Hoenisch; and sister, Eunice Tarnow.

A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 2nd, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Family will receive guests on Saturday, at the funeral home, beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, November 4th.

The family would like to thank all the staff members at Colonial Manor and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice and Dr. Schaller for their dedicated care. And a very special thank you to Debbie Conklin for her special weekly visits with Phyllis.
