Early Saturday morning, April 29, 2017 our Lord called home his servant, Phyllis Ann Josiger, 83, Wausau, from the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Phyllis was born June 3rd, 1933 in Wausau, WI to the late Edwin and Elsie (Brummond) Borkenhagen. Phyllis married William Josiger Jr. on January 12th, 1957. William and Phyllis celebrated 36 years together. William went home to be with his Lord on April 5th, 1993.
Phyllis was an excellent cook and baker, taking snacks when she would go to church and help with quilting. Phyllis would attend church even if she wasn't feeling well. When Phyllis had a bad day, she would humbly say "That's ok, tomorrow will be better. I'm thankful, someone has it worse."
Phyllis enjoyed fishing and spending time at their trailer on Papke Lake. She and her family and friends also enjoyed all the camp fires. Phyllis also enjoyed her many house plants, she truly had a "green thumb". She also enjoyed feeding the birds and loved spending time taking care of Zoey (Paul's dog).
Phyllis is survived by her loving sons, John who lives at home, Wausau and Paul and grandson, Marcus, Wausau. He was her pride and joy. Phyllis also is survived by her sister, Jeanette (Burnell) Utecht, Village of Maine. She is preceded in death by her sister, Jean (Gordon) Darelius; step-father, Martin Tollar; and cousin, Sheila Weisenbeck who was like a sister to her.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4th, 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. Kemp Jones will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Town of Texas. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
Memorials may be directed to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau to the Hospice House through the Aspirus Health Foundation (426 Pine Ridge Boulevard, Wausau, WI 54401, note that memorials are to go to Comfort Care and Hospice Services).
A heartfelt word of appreciation goes to the nurses and staff of the Aspirus Hospice House for their compassionate care during Phyllis's last days.
