Phyllis Kalinke

August 30, 1932 — January 14, 2016

Phyllis Ann Kalinke, 83, Town of Easton, died Thursday, January 14, 2016 at her home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Phyllis was born August 30, 1932 in Rhinelander to the late Sylvester and Veronia (Laporte) Harris. She met Harold Kalinke and the couple later married in September 20, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. The family farmed together for many years. She enjoyed making lawn ornaments with Harold for years; he would cut them out of wood as she would paint them. Sadly, Harold died March 4, 1988 after 37 loving years together with Phyllis.

Phyllis was a spunky, strong, hardworking woman with strong moral fiber. Phyllis love of working outside was evident in her insistence and pride at mowing her 1.5 acre lawn with a push mower taking great pride in her well-manicured lawn. She was very proud of her skill as the neighborhood babysitter, becoming especially closer to Presley girls whom she stayed in touch with throughout their lives. Phyllis dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; supporting her grandchildren at their sporting events as much as she could. She was also an excellent cook and baker, loved feeding her birds that would come to visit and supporting her beloved Chicago Cubs.

Phyllis is survived by her loving children, James (Nancy) Kalinke, Donna (Roger) Neiter, Rosalyn (David) Schneck, Janice (Donald) Osswald and Connie (Steven) Ott; grandchildren, Jamie (Lee) Pastika, Jody (Alfonso) Naczke, Todd (Tera) Neiter, Tracy Benz, Sarah Schneck, Brian (Celia) Schneck, Nicole (Travis) Knoblock, Shane Osswald, Jason (fiancé, Deona) Ott, Joey Ott, Robert Ott and Jill (Matthew) Priebe; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; special women, Erin and Leigh Presley; 3 brothers, 4 sisters and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Paul Neiter; sister, Alice Jones and brother-in-law, Leroy Norton.

Funeral service will be 5:00 PM Monday, January 18, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, E7195 Star Road, Town of Easton. Pastor Ryan Fehrmann will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service on Monday at the church. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery. You may sign our family guestbook at helke.com, Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aspirus Health Foundation, 425 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI 54401 in memory of Phyllis.
