Phyllisjean Ann Zink, 91, of Wausau, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born to Walter and Alvina (Reinson) Barz on March 10, 1924 in Merrill. When she was four years old the family moved to Wausau and Phyllisjean began her life in the Wausau area. She attended Grant School and graduated from Wausau High School. While in high school she met Bernard Zink and they were later married in Wausau on January 4, 1945.
After her schooling she worked for the federal government in the Office of Price Administration, which was charged with gasoline rationing during World War II. Later she was a bookkeeper for the H. Phillips Company. Phyllisjean was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed flowers and gardening, golf, knitting and sewing, and dancing. She spent many days at the cottage with Bernard where they could enjoy the outdoors and go for walks.
Survivors include her husband, Bernard; niece, Dorothy Siewers of Schofield; great-nephew, Roger Siewers of Schofield; great-niece, Julie (Aaron) Lippert of Sheboygan; good friends and neighbors; and dog, ToJo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Alvina; aunt, Anita Preuner; and cousin, Elsie Marth.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 Sixth St., Wausau, with Rev. Ted Gulhaugen officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
