Raymond Habeck

Raymond Arthur Habeck, 86, Wausau, died early Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Raymond was born November 15, 1927, in Wausau to the late August "Ole" and Libby (Stasney) Habeck. He married the love of his life, Rita Weisser, on September 9, 1950, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Wausau. The happy couple were blessed with five children; Marye, Jolene, Kay, Jon and Patti. Raymond worked hard to provide for his family. He was the produce manager for 29 Supermarket for 32 years. Rita went home to be with her heavenly Father on January 9, 1995, after celebrating 44 wonderful years together.

Raymond was a fun loving jokester who always had a kind word and was willing to help anyone in need. He was a do-it-yourselfer and especially loved woodworking. He would often lend a hand to his children and grandchildren. Raymond was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time up north. Another favorite pastime was sports. He enjoyed baseball and softball and rarely missed one of his grandchildren's events. "Grandpa Ray" spent many hours volunteering at G.D. Jones School, and, as a result, was awarded the Friends of Education Award from the Wausau School District. He was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Parish and served in the Holy Name Society.

Raymond is survived by his loving children, Marye (Gary) Isaacson, Jolene Ballesteros, Kay (Terry) Kostroski, Jon (Lisa) Habeck and Patti (Louis) Kraus all of Wausau; grandchildren, Jarrett Isaacson, Mia (Scott) Koeppel, Shanna (Jeff) Salzman and their children, Lillie and Mollie, Adam (Kris) Ballesteros and their children, Sophie and Gracie, Danielle (Jon) Chudyk and their children, Porter, Lexie and Grayson, Jessa (Jeremy) Reif and their son, Carson, Nichole Slaby and her children, Hunter, Lilly and Cora, Heather Habeck and her son, Michael, Sara Nelson and her son, Cameron, Jenna Slaby, Samantha (fiancé, Joe Rader Jr.) Reynolds, Marissa Reynolds and Emily Kraus; sisters, Ruthelaine Trierweiler, OK and Nancy (John) VanSlyke, MN, and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest "Sonnie" Habeck, Marion Viertel, Irene Wilson, Milton Habeck and Shirley Gauger.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 12, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Wausau. Father Tom Huff will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church.
