ReeNa Holleran, 19, Wausau, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She faced her terminal illness (MELAS) with courage and dignity.
ReeNa was born June 8th, 1989 in Korea and was adopted at 7 months by Perry and Julie (Treu) Holleran and siblings; Stephanie, Robin, and Shawn. They welcomed their new “perfect little sister” to the family. Growing up, ReeNa was a “rink rat”, spending many hours attending her brother’s hockey games, where a love of hockey developed and she served as the manager of the Wausau West Warrior Hockey Team. Outside of hockey, she also enjoyed playing soccer during her middle school years with the Wausau Area Youth Association. ReeNa attended Wausau West High School graduating in 2007 and followed that by attending Northcentral Technical College for a time.
In her free time, ReeNa enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and country and western music. She also had an intense love of children, working as an Assistant Teacher’s Aide with vacation bible school and Christmas for Kids at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
ReeNa is survived by her loving parents, Perry and Julie; sister, Stephanie Ruesch; brothers, Robin (Lana) Holleran and Shawn Holleran; birth brother, Alex Furgel; nieces and nephews, Tawni, Christian, Bryce, Hannah, and Jacob; paternal grandparents, Earl and Donna Holleran; maternal grandparents, Angeline (Paul Backes) Marquis and Jack (Ethel) Treu; great-grandmother, Gladys Treu; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
