Renee Machmueller

Renee A. Machmueller, 90, of Wausau passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at Wausau Manor.




On June 18, 1917 , she was born in the town of Harrison to the late Henry and Elizabeth (Strasser) Geiger. The oldest of 13 children, Renee learned early the skills of raising a family. Renee became an accomplished seamstress and cook with baking desserts a specialty. She could crochet, knit, and make quilts and crafts. On April 28, 1945 , Renee married Andy Machmueller at St. Paul ’s Lutheran Church , Aniwa. For years they operated their town of Aniwa dairy farm until retiring in 1978. Brought up in a musical family, Renee played the piano and organ. She gave piano lessons and was organist and active volunteer at St. John’s Townline Church , Aniwa. In her earlier years, Renee was activity director of Cady Home of Birnamwood. She was a past member of the Homemaker's Club and 4H. Her hobbies included flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards, and going fishing.





Survivors include her husband, Andy of Wausau, three daughters, Nancy (Jim) Maier of Birnamwood, Mary (Peter) Gunther of Wausau, Alice (Mike) Fons of Birnamwood, six grandchildren, Becky (Rick) Wendel, Justin (Anna) Maier, Christena (Casey) Schepp, Travis Gunther, Victor Fons, David (Celia) Fons, five great grandchildren, one sister, Lorraine Fondow of Antigo, and five brothers, William (Marie) Geiger of Briggsville, Arthur Geiger of Milwaukee, Gerald (Janice) Geiger of Aniwa, Lyle (Janice) Geiger of Aniwa and Ernest (Carol) Geiger of Antigo, a sister-in-law, Hilda Loehrl of Shawano, and foster daughter, Pearl Peters of Green Bay. Renee was preceded in death by two sisters, June Ryan and Thelma Geiger, and four brothers, Milton, Charles, Edwin, and Henry Geiger.





Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. , Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Highland Community Church , Wausau . Reverend Dan MacDonald will officiate. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Union Cemetery , Aniwa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
