Reuben John Schult, 95, of Wausau went to his heavenly home on Monday, February, 8, 2016, at Benedictine Living Community, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Reuben was born December 28, 1920, to Martin and Olga (Wiedow) Schult in the Town of Maine. He was united in marriage to Mildred Maaser on October 14, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mildred died May 12, 2004.
Reuben worked trimming trees for Blackford Company and later Weyerhaeuser for 38 years as a saw filer and knife grinder, retiring in 1983. He loved woodworking and built their home in Wausau and cottage on Seven Island Lake. Reuben loved working with stained glass and had a special love with his apple orchard and picking blueberries and raspberries. He loved watching birds and the wild turkeys in his back yard. He also enjoyed ice fishing, deer hunting, as well as duck and goose hunting. His most enjoyable times where spent at his cottage on Seven Island Lake.
He was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church choir. He could sing and say prayers in German and everyone loved his bass solo voice. He enjoyed playing his harmonica.
Reuben is survived by his daughter, Judith (Elmer) Kufahl, of Wausau; grandchildren, Rev. Peter (Amy) Kufahl of Mountain Lake, MN and Angela (Christopher) Raasch of Ann Anbor, MI; He is also survived by great grandchildren, Samantha, Jackson, Colton, and Mitchell Raasch, and Adalyn and Alayna Kufahl; and a sister, Della (Dick) Baker of Wausau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mildred; sisters; Renata Schult, Dorothy Berglin, Eleanor Hassel, and Anita Kieffer; two brothers, Norman Schult and Eldon Schult; and great grandson, Matthew Raasch.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, February, 12, 2016, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau, with Rev. Gary Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Town of Maine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church Choir.
