Richard C. Erdman, 78, of Wausau, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at Rennes Health and Rehab Center in Weston under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Richard was born February 23, 1939, in Wausau, WI, son of the late Richard E. and Martha G. (Isburner) Erdman. He received his education at Trinity Lutheran School and later graduated from Wausau High School. Richard entered the United States Navy and was stationed at Charleston, SC until his discharge in 1962. He returned to Wausau where he met and later married Janet Flatter on October 10, 1964 at Grace United Church of Christ. They made their home all their married life in Wausau where he worked for Kraft Foods for 36 years until his retirement.
Richard was a loyal and honest man with a strong work ethic which he passed on to his children. He enjoyed spending time with his family downhill skiing, camping, and fishing with his son on Saturday mornings. He was a devoted Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan.
He was preceded in death by parents and wife Janet in 2016.
Richard is survived by a daughter Jill (Dr. Bradley) Maxfield of Waunkee, Wi, a son Paul (Jennifer) Erdman of Evergreen, CO, seven grandchildren; Andrew, Nicholas, Megan, Ethan, Alex, Riley and Sophie, and a sister Shirley Radant of Weston.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2017, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Rev. Phillip Schneider will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
