Richard Holm Sr

Richard W. Holm Sr., 85, went to eternal life on April 17, 2013, with his family around him, under Hospice Comfort Care at Colonial Manor.
Richard was born Nov. 12, 1927 in Ladysmith WI, to the late James and Florence (O'Neil) Holm. He served in the United States Navy in 1944-1945. On Jan. 15, 1949 he married the late Gladys H. Gaetzman at St Mary's Catholic Church in Wausau. Richard was a baker by trade, having worked at Dick Bros, Jaeger's, County Market and Copps Bakeries.
Richard is survived by two sons, Henry (Mary) and Richard Jr. (Diana), one daughter Patricia Holm all of Wausau, three grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew)Franson of Eleva WI, Justin(Audra)Holm of Marinette WI, Richard W. Holm III of Wausau, two great grandchildren, Kaya and Asher Franson, sister-in-law, Jane Swenson of Browntown WI, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in June 1998, sister and brother-in-law, June (Bill) Sirek, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alice and James Grabau and brother-in-law, Gaylord Swenson.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 221 S. 28th Ave, Wausau. Father Robert Thorn will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park with full military honors provided by American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
The family would like to thank everyone at Colonial Manor and Rehab and Dr. Mark Richetto for the wonderful care given to Richard during his stay there. Also a special thanks to Fr. Robert Thorn and Norma Kipp for the care they showed to Richard. Their visits to him meant a lot. Thank you also to the wonderful care Richard received from Hospice Care.
