Rita Russ

Above all, family was most important to Rita. She cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, spending holidays and birthdays together, and making memories. The countless hours spent exploring, talking, and caring for the cats, on the farm, will remain forever in her grand-children's hearts, as her legacy. Rita had a big heart and was always caring for those she loved. Over the past 4 ½ years, Rita battled cancer with grace and strength.

Rita was born June 25th 1955, in Wausau, to Fredrick and Eileen (Spatz) Osswald. She graduated from Wausau West High School. Rita was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Anne. For 16 years, she worked at Fleet Farm, where she made many friends. Baking and crocheting, especially doilies were favorite hobbies of Rita's.

On October 18th 2013, Rita Anne Russ died under the care of AseraCare Hospice, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Rita will be sadly missed and always loved and remembered by her devoted partner of 14 years, James Farrar; five children, Kelly (Dale) Peters, Jonathon Russ, Sabrina (Jack) Steele, James (Diana) Farrar, Jr., and Justin Farrar; five grandchildren, Brandon, Autumn, Wyatt, Phoebe, and Bridgett; mother, Eileen Osswald; three siblings, Patricia (David) Mayer, Joseph (Pamela) Osswald, and Donald (Janice) Osswald; sister-in-law, Bonnie Osswald; and many other family members and friends.

Rita joins those who have gone before her in heaven, including her father, Fredrick; brother Steven Osswald; and grandson, Christopher.

A memorial service celebrating Rita's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 24th, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, with Reverend Jeff Hennes, of the Church of St. Anne, Wausau.
