Robert Walter Albrecht, 62, Wausau, died Saturday, October 1, 2016 at his home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Bobby was born in Wausau on March 5, 1954 to the late Elmer and June (Sparr) Albrecht. He was a special needs person with Down Syndrome and had a hearing impairment. Bobby had been a resident of Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled, Chippewa Falls, for many years before coming back to Wausau. He had worked at Northern Valley Workshop for many years.
Even with his many challenges, Bobby usually seemed happy and content. He had his own way of communicating and everyone who met him loved him. Bobby enjoyed coloring, going for rides and group outings. He especially enjoyed ice cream.
Bobby is survived by his loving sisters, Ann (Jim) Stachoviak, Patricia Kennedy, Susan Albrecht, Gloria (Dan) Artibee and David (Sandy) Albrecht; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Marcia, Janet and Marilyn.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Julie Goranson will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home on Sunday. You may sign our family guestbook at helke.com.
